It’s a fact that Mexico City gets bigger by the day and more travelers want to visit. Finding a place to stay at can become a headache full of frustration and confusion, for this reason we compiled this list reducing thousands and thousands of options into just the best for you.

Luxury Hotels in Mexico City

If you’re interested in a luxurious experience, there are plenty of great options. There are 58 hotels with 5 stars and each one spectacular; nevertheless, only 12 can be considered excellent. I decided to share the 3 best hotels in Mexico City. However, I leave the link of the other 9 in case you would like to check them out.

Standard Hotels in Mexico City

Now, lets talk about those hotels most tourists are looking for. Comfortable, affordable, and well located.

These are 3 great standard hotels in Mexico City:

Hostels in Mexico City

The best option if you are traveling on a budget, alone, backpacking, or wanting to become one with the city are hostels. Mexico City has expensive and cheap, good and bad hostels. The following should give you a good idea of where to stay.

Best Places to Log In in Mexico City

First things first, you have to know where are the best locations and areas in Mexico City and why:

Historic Distric

From my point of view, this is one of the best areas to book your hotel if you’re looking to tour the city. The Historic District has all types of hotels for any kind of traveler. It’s also an area that has a little bit of everything, museums, monuments, views, Mexican restaurants, rooftops, etc.

The area is so touristic that some hotels will actually offer city tours, bike rentals and other services that can be of great interest for visitors.

For firs-timers in Mexico City, this is their best bet, even if you are traveling on a budget there are great hostels you can stay at.

Polanco

Polanco is an elegant, snobby and very attractive area for those looking for luxury hotels, restaurants and boutiques. This is the most famous area in the city, and an interesting fact is that many young locals dream of living in this area.

Because this is an area focused on high living and business, the touristic attractions provided are very few. However, it’s a great option if you’re looking for the best places to eat at or planning to see a show in the National Auditorium. It’s also a great place to stay at if you’re traveling for business.

Santa Fe

Imagine Santa Fe as a city within the city, sounds crazy, right? Same as Polanco, Santa Fe is more of a residential and business zone. There are various hotels, and although there aren’t many touristic attractions, you might want to stay here for business or visiting a family member. You will find excellency in restaurants and brand stores.

Reforma

Paseo de la Reforma is one of the major Avenues in Mexico City and the hotels located in this area are top-notch. For this reason we recommend you stay here during your visit.

I would say Reforma and the Historic District compete over best areas to stay at. Reforma has the perfect location to move around and get to know Mexico City the best way.

Besides, some of the best hotel in the city are located here.

Near the Airport

There is not much to say here, staying near the airport is a good idea if you plan on flying to multiple states or cities in the country.

In this case, this is not the best location for a tourist, but it is always a good option.

So…. Where should I be staying in?

It completely depends in the type of traveler you are.

Regardless, I will share that in my opinion this is the best place to book a hotel at when planning a visit to Mexico City.

For me: The Historic District is the best place and coming in close second is Reforma.

We hope this guide of hotels in Mexico City has helped you find the best option for you.
